And so - in a shed at the back of a house near Fremantle, Western Australia - the game that would come to be known as RallyX! was born.

How RallyX! came about

A year or so before COVID-19 reared its ugly head, we three table-tennis mates were nearing the end of a hard-fought session of garage table tennis, a session consisting of a series of round-robin sets played and scored in the normal way.

Frustrated with the lack of long rallies played in the course of the evening, someone suggested that we finish with a practice hit so we could enjoy some extended rallies which, after all, is the most enjoyable part of this great game.

After some enthusiastic hard-hitting, it was proposed that we should somehow score the rallies so as to limit game-time, thereby allowing the third player to take a turn at the table.

And so - in a shed at the back of a house near Fremantle, Western Australia - the game that would come to be known as RallyX! was born.

Before too long, all three of us lost interest in playing table tennis in the traditional way, and we set about defining exactly what rules there should be in the modified game.

Finally, we decided we should share our version of table tennis with the rest of the world, and here it is. Enjoy!
